With a reliable source telling me, the lettering and paint scheme you see is what all the "Old Maxims" in Melrose were painted like, E1 had a 1957, E2 a 1954 and E3 a 1947... Maybe HOWIE and get some photos from his archive instead of Posting "Fire Helmets" in another thread.

OK, OK, here they are. I have only two factory photos of Melroses five Maxims. They had a 1929 pumper, two 1946 pumpers, a 1953 quad, a 1958 pumper (and if you want to count the Wakefield ladder Melrose and Chelsea borrowed, six).



First up is a shot of the 1953 quad. No fancy markings on it though.
