From 1973 to 1985, Engine 5 ran this 1973 Hendrickson 1871S/Pirsch 1000/500/50' Telesqurt. The company was disbanded in 1985, sending this rig to the reserve pool. When it was finally disposed of, it ended up in Virginia. Perhaps our Virginia members can give us more details.
When the new Station 5 was opened, around 1991, they were assigned the pumper shown above.
This unit did in fact end up in Virginia. West Point, Virginia ran this unit as Ladder 1 from 1992 until 2003-2004 when stress crack were found in the boom. Honestly, It was a ragged out money pit from day one. it is now owned by a private collector that has redone it not sure to what degree. I will post pictures at a later date.
