Dave,
I'm sure the guys at Avondale told you the history on their pumper-tanker. If not, here it is:
1992 Mack MC/4-Guys, 4-door, 1250/2000, stainless steel elliptical tank, tandem axle shuttle truck, 3 KW generator. It
was housed on 5/30/92 at a cost of $179,000. This was the first 4-door unit ordered by the company. It was housed at the New Garden Twp. Building since there was not enough room in the firehouse. On 8/28/2000 around 8 o’clock in the evening, the twp. building caught fire. The fire captain got into the bay, and drove the rig right through the garage door to save it. Some heat damage on top and to the paint. Sent back to 4-Guys for repairs. Damages were only $5,000 for materials, and $10,000 for labor. Placed back into service on 11/19. On 4/16/05 it was sent back to 4-Guys to have the elliptical tank removed and replaced with a cabinet style body with a 1500 gallon tank – converted to a pumper-tanker. The cab was also repainted and the generator was replaced with a 10KW Kubota diesel generator. It was received back on 7/22/05, placed back into service on 7/30/05. The old tank was sold to Hillbilly Fire Apparatus who was going to have 4-Guys mount it on a Mack chassis.
