In the 70's we visited the Mint and the whole area near Center City - (Remember when you could see Wm. Penn BEFORE other buildings were allowed to be TALLER then City Hall?!). I remember stopping at Sqt 8/Snk 2 and Eng 1/Lad 5. Then I remember the good Old days for the Philly Muster down on Delaware Ave, putting a stream or tow out around where Dave & Busters is now...[/quote]
John,
I too remember going to those early Philly musters along the Delaware. Funny, we probably walked right past one another. I have some pics that my father took at the muster. I remember Camden's "New" Hahn tiller being there, and some other rigs. I'll have to find those pics and post them. I also remember the last Philly Muster that they had back in '89 in front of the Fire Administration building, (way before they started having them again at the PFD Academy). I met the late Tom Wanstall there, he had just come out with his book "FIRE! At war with the Red Devil". He autographed it for me, nice guy.
