Fairmount Township is located in Basehor, Kansas in Leavenworth County. They answer from two fire houses. They are combination department staffed Monday-Friday with three part-time firemen at Fire House 1. Volunteers staff the evenings and weekends. The fire chief in 1991 decided to switch to solid white rigs from the preferred RED. The same chief decided NO federal Q sirens would be allowed. He is no longer chief. The fleet is currently still mixed with red and white. In 2000 they purchased a Demo Smeal-Spartan that is white over red. The members are split between white or red for the new Engine. So we will see what color it will be.
IMO Fairmount started red so they should stay red. Although if you have white. The white on white strip looks the best and makes for a very clean sharp rig with gold leaf. I do believe there are only three colors for the fire service Solid RED, Solid White, Black over Red.
