I finally solved a long standing fire service mystery - why Granville has an Engine 1 and an Engine One. Its really simple actually - Engine One is really Engine 2 or is it Engine Two...basically the money to reletter the engine always seems to get chewed up by some other more pressing need, according to one of thier chief officers.
