I have the Elkins Ford Louisville/American as a 1970, 1000/750 and the IH CO8190/Pirsch as a 1963, 750/500. There is a factory shot and an interesting caption concerning this rig on pg. 73 of the Pirsch Fire Apparatus Photo archive book by Iconografix. When I first saw Elkins back in 1983, the station's rigs had 4 different paint schemes and the 81 IH/Pierce was the newest! I think it is Star City, WV that had the old 1969? Sutphen tower, but I think they replaced it last year. Interesting that Elkins has the x-Burtonsville squad now.

I suppose this is what the x-Burtonsville squad replaced: 1979 Chev. K-30/Pierce, Jeff Mogush photo, Jenkins collection[/quote]
Warren,
Great info, and a special thanks for the Pirsch book information. For those who do not have the Pirsch book, in a nutshell Pirsch sold the truck to Sutphen as a "demonstrator". At that time, Sutphen was a sales agent and distributor for Pirsch. It was then sold to Elkins. Very unusual.
