On some earlier pages of this thread, I posted the apparatus of Covington, Virginia. When traveling to Hot Springs, I traveled by I64 and got off one of the Covington exits. Over a mountain and about 30 minutes later I got to Hot Springs.
Covington operates a Sutphen ladder truck. Prior to the Sutphen, the FD operated this 1988/1949 American LaFrance 100' aerial. When Covington purchased the ALF, it had an older 1949 ALF open cab. It was returned to ALF in 1988, it was rehabed, and it received a new 1988 ALF cab. The Sutphen replaced the ALF, and it was donated to Hot Springs. One agreement was made as part of the donation.....if Covington's Sutphen is ever placed out of service for an extended time, Hot Springs sends the ALF back to Covington to run.
