Correction on the Thorndale rig: (Thanks Dan)
1971 Ford C907-153/National Foam, full cab, 750/750. It was housed on 6/26/71. Not much difference from the rig which was bought in 1961. Cost $38,000, the twp. Paid $9,641 for the chassis, V-8 gas motor, 5-speed manual transmission. It was purchased by the township. Repainted LYW at Jerry’s Auto Body of Thorndale in 1979. James W. Rice was the fire chief and the owner of the body shop. It was loaned to the East Brandywine Fire Company (Chester County) on 11/25/98 when they sold one of their engines and they were waiting the delivery of their new quint. Returned to Thorndale on 2/3/99. It was donated to the Renovo FC (Clinton County) on 9/16/01. It was never lettered by Renovo. It was either sold or traded to some type of broker. Gone by 2005. For sale on E-Bay on 01/06 by someone from Hagerstown, MD with a blown head gasket.
