I think I have seen an older '03 KW T300/Pierce tanker for Tanker 5. What became of this rig since the current Tanker 5 is a '07 model year?
Thanks.[/quote]
I will attempt to give you the short version of what transpired. The 2003 Kenworth T300/Pierce was purchased by Co.5 at the direction of the then Fire Chief. Shortly after the apparatus was placed in service a new Fire Chief and Administration was voted into the company. After 2 years the company decided they didn't want it. It was sold to a fire company in New York. Well in 2006 the old Fire Chief was voted back into office and one of his first tasks was to order another tanker. The new Tanker 5 is identically to the original except for the Kenworth chassis is a different model. Some people say Monroeville doesn't need a tanker since we do have an excellent water/hydrant system. Static Pressure on most hydrants is at 150. However we do have several Interstates and limited access highways in our response area where the tanker is nice to have.
