At one time, Madison, Westmoreland County, had two stations. They ran the Mack CF, a Ford C/FMC, a Ford L/4-Guys tanker and an old ambulance squad (ex Sutersville). Here is a short disposition of each:
1. The tanker was refurbished with a newer Ford L9000 (former over-the-road) cab and is still in service.
2. The CF was sold (location forthcoming) upon purchase of the KME rescue engine they have now (known to us at Waltz Mill as "the turd" due to its small motor).
3. The squad ended up junked and was replaced by a Chevy/Stahl(?) utility truck that was formerly Ligonier.
4. The old Ford/FMC ended up at Yukon and ran for a short while was Engine 19-4; it ended up at D&A Auto Auction and was apparently sold in Colorado.
Now, I have never heard of a Pioneer at Madison; from the looks of it, this preceding descrition takes Madison apparatus back to the early 80s. However, since I am still relatively young, that doesn't mean I missed something!
