Quote:When you look at it like that, Frank, I guess you're correct. This subject has come up several times before and the point I was trying to make was that the big name "experts" had said that there were only about 20 of them built, but my research has confirmed more than twice that number. There are still 3 or 4 more that could be out there that I haven't been able to confirm whether they were 84's or 84/92's or 92's.
I believe I have "found" another 84/92! I just got Walt McCall's new book for Christmas and there is a shot of a Hahn/Superior on page 254. The rig is/was in service as Engine 219 in Bostonia, CA. It's listed as a 1984 there, but in the "Southern California Fire Service Directory", it is listed as a 1983, with capacities of 1500/500. If anyone has a pic they can post, I'd sure appreciate it. The photo in Walt's book is small, making it difficult to positively identify it as a 84/92, but I think it is. Hahn sold five custom chassis to Superior during the time the 84/92 chassis was being built:
HCC-72, delivered 8-31-82 Unknown
HCC-77, delivered 12-29-82 Unknown
HCC-80, delivered 6-3-83 Unknown
HCC-96, delivered 8-20-84 sold to Fullerton, CA
HCC-97, delivered 8-20-84 sold to Bismark, ND (92" cab)
The Bostonia rig could be HCC-80. If anyone has pics of any of these Hahn/Superior rigs, please post them. Thanks!
