The tankers are staffed with a driver only, usually a firefighter riding in the back of the engine company at the station the tanker is assigned. The tankers are assigned to stations 9,21,28,35 and 37. The tankers, however can be used as a backup engine if the companies' regular truck is OOS and could be staffed as an engine company in times of disasters such as flooding or similar incidents by hire-back personnel.
Daily responses for a tanker include vehicle fires on the interstate, hazmat incidents requiring large amounts of foam, and of course areas that have low hydrant pressure or no hydrants at all.
