Hi Rick - I'm Jeff Bradshaw (AzBradshawALF) in Scottsdale, AZ. I'm the current owner of the 1947 ex-Salina 100' ladder (L-3142). It's great to hear some mention of this rig! After Baldwin City had dispostioned it in the early 90's it eventualy would up with a private party in Viola, KS who reportedly had purchased it to re-roof a silo. They never did the job and, according to the previous owner, it sat under an oak tree for about 3 years. I purchased the truck in late 2006 and it's awaiting restoration behind 2 other 700 series rigs, 1951 ALF ex-Lawarence, KS Pumper A-13 (L-4286) and a 1949 ALF series 75' Ladder (L-3938) ex-Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Jeff that is great to hear. I would love to see photos. After Salina it was purchased by a group of Lawrence, KS Firemen and they donated it to Baldwin City. Can you post photos of the Salina, and Lawrence rigs? Please PM me I have Salina's history book and my good friend is Lawrence's Historian. I might be able to provide you with some information photos when you get ready for the restoration. Lawrence has a nice photo of Ladder 1 1947 ALF 700, Engine 1 1951 ALF 700, and Engine 2 1955 ALF 700 in front of Fire House 1. It looks really cool with all 700's in front. The Lawrence 700's were placed into reserve in 1967 when three new Seagrave K Models were received for Engine 1, 2, 3. Lawrence still has the 1955 700 on display at old No2.
