The front half of (Old) Squad 35 is former Engine 290 of Brooklyn New York and served the F.D.N.Y. from 1978 until disposal in 1990. While in the service of the FDNY, Engine 290 was titled as the "Busiest Engine Company In The World" in 1979, 1981,1982 and 1984. The back half of Squad 35 served as Squad 42 from Enhaut Fire Company, from 1972 until 1995. The chassis of former Squad 42 was sold to a private party, with the box being refurbished and mounted to the Engine 290 cab in 1995. Interstate Truck Equipment in Hagerstown, Maryland did the work.
