Any idea why Olde Forge is selling the 96 Seagrave? It looks to be in great shape - and from the picture of the "new" E\-One it looks like they replaced it with a 96 E\-One. My dept is interested in the Seagrave - just wanted to make sure there were no major problems. Any info as to why they are selling it would be appreciated.

I am interested to read that the former Old Forge ladder only has a tip load of 250 pounds, that would, in my head, really limit the staffing who could operate from the tip of this unit or use it safely for fire fighting.  Is this common of ladder trucks now a days or is this unit specific?  Seagrave specific??

Since 1991, the NFPA minimum has been a 250-pound rating.  Seagrave still offers a medium duty (250 pound) 100-foot ladder, in addition to their heavy (500 pound) duty models.  Pierce also still offers a medium duty 100-foot ladder.  New Haven, CT just received one.  A lot of northeastern and mid-Atlantic urban departments still prefer medium duty ladders.
