Those lights are Mars "Aurora Borealis" lights. They consisted of ocillating, rather than rotating, lights. Very rare to see a colored dome on one! Or two on one rig!
These lights, popular in Mars' Chicagoland area (especially the CFD) in the late 60's-early 70's, were pretty much eclipsed by the Federal TwinSonic lightbars and their competitor's products (Code 3, etc.).
Chelsea, MA FD had one on their Chief's buggy back in the 1970's.
If you see one on Ebay today, they're going for around $1000 in working condition.
Awesome rig. Would love to get a hold of one of these for our antique fire truck club. We've just about everything in our storage facility aka firehouse except one of these beauties.
Thanks for the pics. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Is that a Hahn behind this nice looking Mack C? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
