Need you to get over to Wampsville to get a pic of their "new" 1996 Emergency One Cyclone TC, 4-door six man cab, 1500/500, 465HP Cummins M11 diesel, automatic, 15 KW Stadco generator, desiginated rescue-pumper, sold by Glick Fire Equipment-Smokestown to the Southern Manhiem Fire Company (Lancaster County, PA). Replaced in 2011, sold to Wampsville (Madison County, NY) which is near Syracuse. I was told that this is a small department, and the E\-One replaced an engine they described as having a catastrophic failure.
Here is an article on it: http://oneidadispatch.com/articles/2012/01/25/news/doc4f20ada06fb6d062720960.txt

Kind of sounds like they havent used this particular "new" truck since they got it in December, probably while doing driver training and mounting equipment, etc. but that they are preparing to put it in service soon - at least thats what I get from the article.
Reading the article, I think he read it right. It appears that there are only three vehicles, they only mentioned this engine and a tanker...the third might just be the chief's vehicle. The article was dated January 25th, so their drought may have ended. In rural areas where you don't have the dependence (for lack of a better word) on government to provide everything for you, people survive the old fashioned way....they just deal with it. I know I was raised to hop to the hospital carrying my severed leg over my shoulder before calling an ambulance, but sadly, this is not the norm anymore.
It's quite likely that Wampsville has not had a call since December, save for possibly some medical calls. Wampsville is a very small village, about one square mile, with a population of around 500. They would only run first due in their village area, the surrounding areas are covered by Canastota, a larger volunteer department to the west, and the City of Oneida, which is a career department just to the east of Wampsville, so even mutual aid is a rare thing for them.
