[quote name='unMARKedCARR' post='280311' date='Feb 8 2009, 21:14 ']As most of you know, Station 3 is the only station in the county in red rigs. Their regular Engine 3 is in the shop so I photographed it there. I wanted pictures of it and the new Rescue 2. I asked the boss at the shop if someone could move them and pose them for me and he said for me to just do it myself. I wasn't about to be shy about that, so I did it.

Engine 3 is a 2006 Pierce Quantum Chrome 1500 GPM Pumper.

Why is FS03 the only station to have red rigs? I had to grin when I saw the Unimog with the blade on the front in Miami, I guess it's not for snow!

Great photos Mark. While at E\-One you didn't happen to snap any shots of a yellow tower did you? Easy to spot, big, yellow, 3 mars lights on the front! We heard it was parked out front for a couple of days.

Miami-Dade's Station 3 is the only station using red apparatus. It's some sort of honor for the 343 from FDNY. I think Station 3's crews were big into the rescue and recovery efforts there or something. Since both the engine and the rescue are now in newer rigs, there is a spare engine and rescue that floats around the county that are red as well.

Nope, don't remember whether I saw one or not. There wasn't a whole lot there anyway. But, the place was closed and the only two trucks in shootable positions were the two I shot.

They probably took it back in. They should have been working on the punch list anyway! Thanks.

Today, I had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot for one of our chiefs. He is doing something that shows the cooperation between Florida's Division of Forestry and Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue. I did several different group shots with and without crews as well as some single truck shots. Here you go, for your viewing pleasure.

First up is Everglades 3, the District Supervisor for Forestry. He's in a 2002 Dodge.

Ooops, sorry for the pause, had to go save a life. Here's a different Forestry rig, a 2007 Sterling with 2006 Caterpillar D50 Tractor.

I kept innocently calling this a mini-pumper and realized the Forestry guys weren't too keen on that. I was told that it's an Engine. I knew that but it had faded back into the cobwebs of my tired old mind. It's a 2005 Ford F450 20HP/500 Brush Engine #18-115.

And here's the group hug picture. A bunch of the Everglades District Forestry rigs and a couple of Palm Beach County Engines, Brush trucks, a Tender, and some bosses.

Palm Beach County's 2003 Freightliner FL120/Ferrara 1250/3000/50F Tanker was hidden in the background of the group hug.

I come across this rig quite a bit in the Publix parkinglot near home. West Palm Beach seems to rotate their rigs all over the city and this one spent quite a while at Station 6 before moving to its new home at Station 7. It's a 2006 Pierce Dash 1500-500-30F-75' Ladder as Ladder 7.

Great shot!

Could you tell me where Station 7 is located?

Station 7 is on Okeechobee Blvd. at Benoist Farms Road. That's about 2 miles or so west of the Turnpike. North side of the road.

I don't know if you're familiar with West Palm Beach Fire Dept. or not but there's also a Station 8 now out on Northlake Blvd. west of SR710 (Beeline Hwy). It's a temporary station in a mobile home and runs either/or with a rescue and an engine.

Thanks for the info! Those two stations seem...scattered from the rest. Does WPB have funky jurisdiction?

Yep, they've been spreading west. They now are on the county's radio and do automatic aid with us.

Probably a good thing <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' /> I don't know much about the system there (as far as efficiencies goes) but mutual aid agreements seem to carry lots of benefits and few drawbacks. Broward County doesn't seem to agree but whatever.

I'm supportive of cooperation!

Well, the intent of the Winter Thaw trip was to venture to Miami-Dade County and shoot some rigs but the weather didn't cooperate. But, since I needed to go down there and tackle a project for a friend, I headed down there this morning. Weather was great and the cooperation was even better.

First up is this 2002 Pierce Quantum 1500/750 Pumper Ex-Engine 56 #13820-05.

I took this photo to capture some of the lettering detail. The cab was tilted so I wasn't expecting a cool picture. I looked at it when I got home and kinda liked it. It's the older Quantum from Engine 3, the 2002 Pierce Quantum 1500/812 Pumper and has since been put into reserve status.
