Code 3 Collectibles made a yellow Crown with a Surf Board lettered for

Hawaii, was this an actual apparatus? Are there any photo's out there

of Crown's in Hawaii?
Reply
The Code 3 Crown with the surf board was done in red and it was a replica of an actual truck used by the Honolulu FD. The yellow Code 3 Crown was a replica of an LA City rig used at the LA airport. I'm sure if you did an internet search you would find pictures of Crown apparatus in Hawaii. Below are links to the Code 3 models mentioned here:

These look like many of the 1960 models that LAFD bought, and at least one of the '62's (on the right). Early-mid 80's (thanks Casey, I forget that LAFD kept rigs around a long time...)

Should be early to mid 80s, because I had a roster from 12/81 that still showed some of the '60s - '62s still in first line service. Even though they were at some of the slower stations.

[/quote]Great pic: but I think you'll find you're looking at a Seagrave cab interior. Nonetheless, a seldom photographed view that captures the very best features of a "fresh air model". <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> Thanks for posting, and please keep them coming!
