Classic Kansas City Fire Department KCFD Retired Truck 7 from Fire House 19
1950 Seagrave 85ft Ladder with a wash tub tillerman's seat.
This was the only tiller in the fleet with a wash tub tiller seat. Also this was the only Seagrave Ladder until the 1960's. KCFD ran all ALF 700 tillers during the 1950's.
Served Truck 7 at Fire House 19 then Truck 4 at Fire House 7 it was disposed of in 1979 and sold to Pecuiler, MO and was again sold to a private collector in 1990. It went through a number of private collectors and now is owned by a retired KCFD FAO from Truck 2. He has placed a 2 number plate on the side but it never served at Truck 2. The first collector was going to refinish it in Seagrave Red but did not like the dark red so it is now in a cherry or candy apple red.
This FAO also owns old Truck 10 a 1976 Seagrave 100ft white over lime-green tiller.
Note the model 20 Sterling Siren Light this was the common siren and warning light for all KCFD rigs in the 1940-1950's. In the 1960s KCFD added a Federal Becon Ray pipe light to this rig.
The windshield red lights are not orginal and this rig never had them. One of the many private owners took these lights off of Olathe, Kansas 1950 Seagrave Quad and placed them on this unit. I advised him it was not orginal and showed photos but he still did it and history was changed. The nose light is orginal.
Retired Engine 921 served at Fire House 1 as 921, Fire House 2 as 921 then 932, and Fire House 3 as 933. Sold in 2002 traded in on the current Truck 91 95ft E\-One Tower Ladder.
1972 Chevy/ American Fire Appratus 750/750
First unit in Lenexa to not have a Federal Q2b Siren. This was emergecny purchased and replaced a 1965-1967ish Chevy CO/ ALF that was wrecked in a roll over accident.

1977 Pem-Fab Wedge/ Pierce Fire Marshal series 1500/500
Only Wedge in Kansas City Metro[/quote]
Funny story I forgot to post was the Cab Doors on Lenexa's three Pierce's used to have Dept. not Department in gold leaf. The new Chief came in 1981 was pretty uptight. So in 1987 he had both pumpers the 1978 Ford C-8000 and the 1977 Wedge wet sanded and relettered in gold paint "Department" even the front ends were changed from LFD to Lenexa Fire Department. On the Ford C-8000 the name had to be moved from the front door to the jump seat wall since Department was to big for the door. Oh the 1978 Pierce Chevy mini pumper stayed the same no door changes. Really funny just intresting info.
Sorry for the rain shots. OPFD and KU Fire Training were hosting Elevator Rescue at the OPFD Fire Training Center. So in between breaks and showers I took some photos of the rigs.
First up is Leawood, Kansas Fire Department. This is their new door logo. This is a recreation of the front end logo that appered on their 1961 ALF 900 pump that was later retro fitted with a 55ft Tele-Squirt in 1985.
