Las Vegas Valley Apparatus
Thats a load of equipment for a stuck elevator.

I agree and there was a rescue (ambulance) there too. I should have taken some pics of the guys in their tactical rescue over-alls and helmets, it was quite interesting to release an elevator.

Usually AMR or Medic West, the two private companies here in the valley do the transports. A County rig will transport some of the time depending on what kind of call it is. The county and the private rigs are almost always dual dispatched to calls

Thanks for the reply. I guess this is another westcoast version of EMS. It just seems strange to have transport units that do not transport. What is the purpose of have a private company doing EMS when the county/city has transport unit? I assume whoever transports gets the money?

Thanks

I think the standard elevator response is a truck and a rescue(the fire dept ambulance). The Heavy Rescue never used to be part of the response but who knows now. With it being July in Vegas and looking like they were at the overhead walkway elevator...It was probably 110+ which may also have led to a beefed uyp response.

Whoever transports gets to bill. I don't think County fire is even allowed to bill YET. While to those outside the system may find it strange...it does provide tremendous surge capacity for a system with a population you can never exactly guage with all the tourists and other times of surge (New Years EVE). Also, a few years ago when I worked there for AMR, it was not unusual to wait HOURS for a bed at the hospital with a pt on my gurney waiting for a bed in the ER. Its hard to plan for other peoples problems(ER Overcrowding).

Wow that is a huge Responce for a person trapped in an elevator, around here the responce would be 1 fire unit

I recently read that Las Vegas Truck Co. 1 (tiller) has been re-assigned to the newly organized Truck Co. 48. Tower Ladder 4 has been re-assigned and now serves as Tower Ladder 1 downtown. There is no longer a Truck Company in 4's house.
