Hosebed of the older KW.

This rig has a neat story. It belonged to SFD and served Seattle for many years, then was transferred to Seattle City Light. They took it up to protect one of their many rural facilities up at one of their dams in the middle of nowhere. It served at Newhalem until 2001. It's since been restored to its SFD configuration.
I think Shane MacKichan has posted a pic of this rig while it was in service at Newhalem.
Last pic -- another retired SFD Kenworth/Heiser.
Obviously I'm biased, having lived here since 1989, but these old SFD Kenworths are some of my favorite rigs. I love the look of them -- they're just gigantic in person. Most of them had manual transmissions, so when you'd see them respond, the drivers would be working the gears going up and down Seattle's hills. They were louder than any other rigs I've ever heard. You could hear them from blocks away. There's only two of them left in service in the SFD as far as I know, both of which were converted to hose wagons. Sorry about the brutal shadows, but all of these rigs were parked in the middle of two buildings and under trees. There were many more trucks there, but they were so shadowed out I didn't even take pics of them.
Here is a new truck in the Northwest. The Kent Fire Department placed this Pierce Quantum 100ft Aerial in service in June of this year.

Tukwila has another identical engine on order. It should be completed and delivered soon.
Thought I'd keep this topic from being cleaned up. This weekend is the Pioneer Square Fire Festival in commemoration of the 1889 Seattle Fire that destroyed most of downtown. Years ago there was a parade and apparatus came from all over the state and even British Columbia, but unfortunately that doesn't happen any more. Anyway, the Last Resort Fire Department was displaying their collection of former Seattle rigs and I got a few pics.
First off is a former SFD Kenworth/Heiser engine. The SFD had a ton of these rigs from the late 60's onward. Within the past few years they've all been retired.
Love the KW shots, especially the hose beds. Lot of pride in all of that polished brass. Many thanks.

Nice additions Shane. Both of the Woodlinville ALF's are nice, especially the TDA. I dont know if it just me, but dual axle tractors on a TDA are attractive!!
Bainbridge Island Fire Dept, WA operates this very rare and unique ladder truck.

Great shots of the Bremerton rigs. Saw the drawing of the engine on the Seagrave website.
