Here's a vacant school burning at 10th and Broadway on August 20, 1992.

And this was just another night in East St. Louis. Back to back house fires. When there were not enough engine companies to go around the mini-pumper would be placed in service, with a guy riding on the tailboard well into the 90's. This was a fully involved house fire at 20th and Piggott on Oct. 22, 1992.

We were in downtown St. Louis this night riding on the Sal Army canteen when this job came in. Fire at the pallet company at 3300 St. Clair Avenue on July 10, 1994. It looked great coming across the bridge into Illinois. And once we got there we were not let down. Lots of fire to say the least. This is a shot of the tele-squrt flowing.

After being down there a couple weeks ago there ain't too much more to burn down. Between Washington Park, E STL and Sauget I bet there aren't but 100 structures without some kind of fire evidence

That sounds like my kind of class trip. To do a great online tour of East St. Louis go to http://wwwbuiltstlouis.net/eaststlouis/index.htn

Enjoy your tour online, the safest way to visit East St. Louis!

Only thing that would have made it better is being allowed to fire fan a little bit...but my instructor wasn't cool enough. So I had to look at the burned out shells and imagine...

Thought I'd get this East St. Louis forum back up and running for those who have not seen it in a while.  After you check out these classic photos, check out the Youtube video that was recently posted showing the plight of the East St. Louis Fire Dept.
