The Vegas Valley is the first place that I have ever seen Fire Departments with CBRNE Units since 2005, I believe that it originates from the US Military. The CBRNE ( Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and high yeild Explosives). purpose is to assess and mitigate incidents involving these events. Unlike a Haz Mat team, a CBRNE Team also deals with deliberate, man made events, weapons, and agents such as dirty bombs, and other weapons of mass destruction and weapons of mass disruption, mass casualty, ect. The rigs carry special equipment such as showers, mass casualty, and other assessment and mitigation equipment to deal with such events. Thats pretty much the "jist" that I was told anyway. Corrections are welcome from anyone else that may have more of an insight

In Union County, NJ there Haz Mat units have "CBRNE" on the dies althoughtthe County PD whies a little about the "E" part since the County PD mitigates explosives. I think it has become more common place its using federal funds to purchase vehicles.
