Does BWI Airport FD operate two ladders or is the quint a reserve (since it's older)?

Got to love the throaty roar of the diesels on unmufflered ARFF rigs!

They run both the Tower & Quint.  BWI Airport runs a fair amount of mutual aid to surrounding counties off property.  Not uncommon to see / hear the Tower and / or Quint working at a scene as a regular "county" truck company (i.e. on a dwelling fire).

The Quint is filling in for the Out of Service ALF Engine. The New Engine isnt inservice yet.

When the New Engine goes in service the E\-One Quint will go back to reserve.

When the New Quint (Due Fall 13) goes in service it will supposedly replace the Tower.

One a normal day the Engine, Aerial Device (Tower or Quint), 2 ALS Units, Division Chief and 3 ARFF Units are Staffed.

The Engine & Aerial Cross staff the Squad(Special Ops), Brush, Tanker & Support Unit (Soda Truck). One of the ALS Units will be responsible for the Special Ops 9 (MCI Unit) when an Alert Comes in. The 4th Arff remains in reserve.

The Airport is Expecting: a New Quint, 4x4 Medic, Division Chief/Command Post, Striker 3000 with HRET this year and repordedly a 2nd Striker 3000 (no hret) in 2014.

The 2 Strikers will be replacing the 2 Oshkosh (432 & 435) and rumor has it one of them may end up out in Hagerstown.
