All in all it was a very good, productive day! It's not often when you have a county full of neat, used rigs with guaranteed staffing at each & every station for a few hours!! I hope to go back next year and catch the other new deliveries!

And the last planned shot for the day was this neat rig! Madisonville got this not too long after the last time I visited there. And now we come to probably the coolest all-around fleet that I found that day. This was my favorite truck! They said this truck replaced a 1960's IHC CO-8190/Central-St Louis engine that came used from Vonore, TN. They said that they knew a salesman from Deep South Fire Apparatus and they'd contacted him to see what he had available for sale. He told them he actually had the engine pictured below being sold from the Lake City, TN area and he'd bring it down so they could look at it. After trying it out, they traded the IHC engine for this GMC engine. They still speak highly of this truck and how it handles the roads in their district. I wondered where it went Bill. Not the way I remembered it. [/quote] Yeah, the color is off but it is still there, I am glad to see it is still carrying on somewhere else. Andrew, I have the specifications as 1500/500/55', and it was a 1977. It served with Larimer until 2003, then it was in "reserve" status until 2007 when we sold it to East Derry. It apparently didn't last there too long; it was for sale again around 2010. I went to my first fire as a senior firefighter on it in 2000.

I hope someone can help me more with this truck. I'd never ran across a Federal fire truck before. This rig sits behind Midtown VFD near Harriman.
Roane County, TN (First Engine in Roane County, TN) 1946 Federal 750/?? These numbers were listed on the data plate, which was located under the hood. SP-135 MTR-5369 Cha. # 158763 X: ??? Andrew Messer Photo (2012)
I'm assuming this rig came from Reading, PA? Can someone give me some further on this one?

This was the highlight of the stop at Midtown. This engine still runs, they're just working on some repairs to the pump before it re-enters service as the 2nd out engine!
Midtown, TN "110?" 1966 IHC CO-8190/Hahn (one of three made that year from their understanding) 750/500 S/N # FD-106683 I have two sets of records on where this one formerly served. My records from somewhere show that it formerly served Briarcliff Manor, NY and Archville, NY. Their memories of the truck is that it served Scarboro, NY. The engine was formerly all white, with "SCARBORO" across the front of the cab. The chief of Midtown VFD's last name was Scarborough and he didn't want the fire truck running around with his last name (albeit spelled differently) on the front of it. So they painted a red stripe through the middle of the cab to block out SCARBORO. Any help would be appreciated! Andrew Messer Photo (2012)
They also had this neat rig that I was afraid I'd never get to shoot. Harriman, TN formerly ran this rig, before selling or donating (not sure which) the rig to Midtown VFD. Once again, this truck runs fine, they're just working on some parts for the 4-wheel drive to function properly. Once that's fixed, it'll go into service.

I know nothing about this truck except that it's a P-15 that formerly served Fort Hood, TX. I FULLY intend to respond back to the business this truck was locked up inside of during regular business hours for better pics and more info!

A few Saturdays ago, I did a Buncombe County, NC update trip. Many stations had received new rigs since last time I was over there.
This rig runs from Leicester's brand new substation located on Newfound RD between Leicester and Haywood County. Leicester, NC "Engine 18-3" 1990 Pierce Dash 1500/750 Job # E-5634 X: West Buncombe, NC "Engine 5-4" Andrew Messer Photo (2012)
I stopped by French Broad FD to shoot their new brush truck, but ended up shooting their whole fleet again. The sun was so perfect, they have a large parking lot and they were willing, so I couldn't resist the opportunity.
