You got rid of it for $6500?
They are trying to get at least $35,000 out of it!

ARFF-FF what did you guys not like about the Quantum? Was it too tall, heavy or slow?
People complaining about spam in the spam mail box... Huh, what'll they think of next?
Yep. They have some info wrong also...it has more than 5K miles on it and it only has a 650gal. water tank, not a 1000gal.
Maybe it only has 5k miles, on it's left side.....

It was too tall, top heavy and wheel base was too long for starters. Getting in and out of the cab sucked, didn't have enough room in the back and driving it around NOVA was no fun at all. If you went over a small bump it felt like it was going to tip over.

We were curious about the odometer so we called our shop and they had to replace that gauge a while back, so it only has 5K on it since the replacement...but on the truck, it has around 30K
I read that Dulles will be getting a second Striker later this year.
ARFF-FF any news on when National will be replacing one of their rigs with a Striker?
No word on new crash trucks for us...probably when Dulles replaces these Strikers we will get their hand me downs. The new pumpers are going to be Arrow XT chassis with half rescue style compartments and half normal engine co. compartments. They will be smaller than the Quantums and will have a roto ray, two mars lights and a powercall! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
For those interested in additional Dulles Airport apparatus, I just posted a variety of photographs of Dulles apparatus on the "Virginia apparatus - miscellaeous" firepics thread.
I see from the find publication Virginia Fire News, which is a fantastic product put out by Jerry, firemag on here, that the two new Arrow XT pumpers are due in February.

SWEET!.......but they need to park it outside and let it ripen up!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Our white/red Arrow XT pumper should be here in May.

Thanks for the shot ARFF-FF, I can't wait to see the final product. I will be in DC in May to hopefully shoot the new rigs and Alexandria's new truck if it is in service by then.

I thought the "even" unit numbers were at Dulles and "odd" at Washington. If that is the case, are both the Pierce engines going to Washington? I thought one was heading to Dulles.

Appreciate any information.

Mike,
Just when you thought you had the airport figured out, we throw a wrench in the mix...but this makes more sense the the odd and even numbers. Engine 301 will be located at Station 301 and Engine 303 will be located at Station 303, E-303 will be taking the place of RE-324. We decided that all new apparatus will be labeled as the rest of the area does, our new medic is Medic 301, Dulles's second new crash truck is Foam 302 and so on. This was done to keep the quit confusing mutual aide companies and dispatchers.
