After Otto, we scooted over to Clayton Fire Dept. Nobody was home but a clerk in the police station called dispatch and asked them to page someone to come help us. We waited about an hour and nobody showed up. About an hour after we left, Clayton had a big gas leak and took several trucks out. Oh well, better luck next time.



Next up the road was my favorite named fire department of all time - WarWoman, GA Vol. Fire Dept. I was going to tell my wife I found a station named after her but thought better of it and didn't. A guy just happened to stop by and pulled everything out for us.



First up is a hand-me-down from Highlands, NC. It's a 1973 Chevrolet C65/Ward LaFrance 1000/750 Pumper as Engine 2-B #78-819.

Engine 2 in Warwoman is a 1994 GMC TopKickCentral States 1000/1000 Pumper.

Tanker 2 is a 2003 Kenworth/Fouts Brothers 250/2000 tanker.

And Squad 2 is this 2005 Ford F550/Fouts Brothers 250/250 minipumper. Yeah, I know the fronts of the rigs are a bit dark but it was the best angle we could get.

We left Warwoman and road over the river and through the woods, not to Grandmother's house, but to Highlands, NC Fire Dept. Here, we had great luck with the rigs but one of them sustained a bit of damage after the photos were done. The driver accidentally backed the brand new rig into the station - literally! He wasn't too ticked off at us but we didn't have the heart to ask for the remaining two rigs, plus all the pickup trucks and Blazers that Andrew wanted to shoot.



Anyway, first up in Highlands is this rig we found on the side of the road in a towing yard. It was brand new when Highlands got it. It's a sad 1953 FWD FR50T 500 GPM Pumper Serial #117263.

And this rig was recently sold to a firefighter who will use it in his lawn business I think. It's a 1991 Ford F350/EVI squad.

A couple of days ago, GADave and I journeyed to White County, GA to shoot some rigs. We had an "in" there that allowed us to photograph everything there that we wanted. Thanks a million to Shannon, aka FireScooby, for carting us around and facilitating all the photos. Twas a fun day. Our favorite piece of the day was one of the first. Cleveland, GA's 1956 Ford F600/Howe 500500 pumper bearing manufacturer #9772.

If this were a model fire truck, it would indeed be a kitbash. As I've been told, it was a Gwinnett County, GA rig that had been rolled. It now is a pieced together 1988 Spartan with 1993 Simon-Duplex/LTI 1250/500/75' components. It's now Cleveland's Ladder 1 and bears the newer manufacturer #9203678.
