The City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada's capital city, operates a large number of tankers.  Due to the extremely large geographical size of the city, the vast majority of the land is very rural.  Although the population of the city approaches 1,000,000 with most of those in a dense urban environment, there are 16 rural fire stations manned by volunteers, with an additional 4 stations housing career and volunteers together.  These 4 stations are on the periphery of the urban/rural divide. 25 stations house career members only, with 2 of those having tanker apparatus assigned.

11 of these Spartan Gladiator/Carl Thibault 1250/2500 gallon tankers were purchased between 2004 and 2010.

The brush tanker is a 1986 International 1800 4x4 with a 625 front mount and 1500 gallon tank.  This is the oldest rig on the roster and is scheduled to be replaced.  It was originally Rideau Townships rescue vehicle, and was converted to its present configuration after amalgamation.
