Quote:Finally, the Hurlock FD had this 1972 Seagrave with 75' Snorkel.

Just a litle FYI.....

The large "SNORKEL" logo below the windshield indicated that the Snorkel Fire Equipment Company was the primary contractor in building this rig. Either a Seagrave chassis was specified by the customer, or it was the chassis that FWD had available when the contract was signed. In the early days, Snorkel used many FWD chassis. Since FWD was the parent of Seagrave, there were times when substitutions between FWD and Seagrave were made. Either way, the bodywork was subcontracted to Pierce.

Quote:Owings Mills had the '57 Maxim ladder first, new. It was replaced in 1974 with the Imperial. When the Imperial ladder was rehabbed years later, Owings Mills bought the used Ward and placed it in service as their reserve truck, rather than go without a ladder truck during the time the Imperial was out for rehab

Dang! Snatched the words right outta my mouth! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/22_yikes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='22_yikes' />

Some info regarding earlier posts; post #123 is ex- Bel Air,MD., and would be sold back to them around 1997.

post#127, the 69 Seagrave from Odenton, MD., then Hooper's Island would be sold to Williamsport,MD., for a Junior FDprogram, but the rig would be eventually donated to a dept. in Missouri or Arkansas.

Post #124, 76 Seagrave from Odenton, replaced the 72 Diamond Reo/Oren that Juergen posted earlier in 1992, then replaced in 1996, unknown disposition.

Looks like there was more than 1 photographer at that parade! (Cumberland Valley Vol Assoc., Keyser,WV, 1993)

Post #125, Rawlings VFD was donated this rig by a member who had ties to the Aberdeen-Oak Shades NJ. FD. I don't believe Rawlings still has this, and it was only used as a parade rig while there. Rawlings had many used rigs in their 1st 10 years...

Thanks Rescue131 & GA_Dave. That clears up a few things. While on the subject. Did Owings Mills operate a '51 Mack/Maxim 75' Ladder and a mid 60's vintage F Model Maxim 100' Ladder? If so, does anyone have photos? I'm trying to cleanup my Maxim data base and the Owings Mills entries are a little confusing. Both ladder show they were bought used.

Thanks again.
Mike

I'll say 3, custom pumpers in 1964 (one in photo), 1969, and 1977. They also had a used 1965 International/Hahn brush truck that came from Brandywine-Hundred VFD,Del. The 69 and 77 were replaced by twin 93 Pierces.

Owings Mills did have a Mack/Maxim purchased used to run while the Imperial/Grove went out for it's second rehab. I do have a photo which I will dig out this weekend. They did not have a F Model maxim. The 1957 Maxim quint was sold to the Sykesville Fire Department in Carroll County, who never placed the unit in service. It was then sold, but I cannot remember to who.

Hey guys, my knowledge of Maxim models is slim to none! I have this older shot of an Owings Mills Maxim which I have labelled as a 1966 Maxim F 100/50/100' MM. It ran as Trk 313 in Owings Mills.
