I was lucky enough to get hooked up with a great shift at SPIFD back in 2003, and they took the Bronto down to a local parking lot and let me fly it. VERY smooth and stable, even at full extension. Interesting see it go from almost being in Mexican territory all the way to VT.

Almost all the way to Canada! At one time or another, the crews working in that bucket have see both north and south of the boarder... How many rigs can claim that?

I hope that they take into account the maintenance that a piece of equipment like this needs.

Ahhhh, 3 Rescue 8! This rig was (finally) delivered just after I left Malletts Bay Fire department to return to Virginia. What a beautiful rig! Malletts Bay runs a Seagrave Wagon, ALF Quint, this Rescue Engine, a fireboat (they are located right on Lake Champlain)and a utility/hose/EMS first response vehicle. Outstanding department. They maintain a mutual aid agreement with the Town of Colchester and the Town of Winooski. Malletts Bay borders the City of Burlington's new north end (Engine 4's district).

Former Provincetown, MA (Cape Cod) which they donated to (I believe) Johnson, VT a few years back after their firehouse burned and they lost a majority of their equipment. Wolcott must have recently aquired it from Johnson. When in Provincetown it was pained lime green, which the rear wheels and pump show its original color.

I have scene pictures of Jay Vermont, not too much to see.

Can anyone fill us in on the need for a Sutphin tower, a Mack Scope and that thing they got from Texas. I know they get a lot of snow, but not 174'

I was wondering the same maxim. The biggest and most populated spots in Vermont (and even those are relatively small by national standards) are Burlington, South Burlington, Rutland, Brattleboro and St Johnsbury. I can't see why Jay would need that rig.

Jay Peak resort is undergoing a major rebuild including a large new hotel. In addition there are numerous multi-story condo's, the tram from the resort to the top of Jay Peak & the ski lifts. I've also heard there's at least 1 location Jay needs the ability to go below grade with the boom. Obviously once the tram & lifts go beyond a certain point there's no place to position an aerial. The Sutphen tower mentioned is in Troy, bordering Jay and it replaced the CF Mack Aerialscope (which started life in FDNY before serving in Burlington, Colchester Center & ending it's career in Troy).[quote name='maxim' date='06 August 2010 - 04:11 PM' timestamp='1281124263' post='396221']

FYI - Bennington Battle Day Parade August 15, 2010 line up at 10:00, step off is at 12:30. Nice parade! Went last year, so I doubt I'll make this year.

10-4, It was def owned by Provincetown before going to Johnson, Vt but I didn't think it was original to Provincetown. So this rig is in its (at least) 4th department. Thanks
