F.D.N.Y.
While on vacation in the Poconos, I noticed Engine 7 sitting at a Hotel off I-80. (Rt 33 and Rt 611) As normal with all FDNY rigs, the NYC and FDNY logos and words were Covered for TRADEMARK reasons.

Covered for trademark reasons? Why is that?

This may have already been covered in a previous post, but I was wondering what the status of the new ladders and recue trucks was? There is nothing on Fererras website on there in production section. But I heard that they are well underway.

If I was to hazard to guess... Fererra may be keeping these new rigs under wraps so they can have a grand unveiling, or something along those lines. It is also possible they have not updated Rigs In Production in sometime, who knows. I am sure we will see them soon enough...

Noticed last year down in Wildwood... Seagraves said they logos are "property" of the City of NY and the logos could not be photographed. The whole thing after 9-11 and MIS-USE of the FDNY and Logos spured the issue. Some of the guys who do Models (Kitbashing) and make and sell the decals have been hunted down by City Lawyers. The TRADEMARK and COPYWRITE laws were mentioned....

Can't make this "STUFF" up when red tape and NYC is involved!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Icon_crazy' />

Bet some odometers are HIGH before they even hit the streets... Since Seagrave does not have any rigs at FIREHOUSE EXPO... THERE ARE NONE IN BALTO!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/stirpot.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Stirpot' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/popcorn.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Popcorn' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/3_5_15.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='3_5_15' />

Looking at the front of the cab how come the NY is trademarked but the FD not? lol

Wonder if it blew off in the wind motoring down the highway?

What are the lanyards on the compartments running too, I don't think I've ever seen anything like that.

My immediate first thought on this rig was that it looks like the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree of Fire Engines. Poor thing.

I believe They're attached to snap rings or small padlocks to prevent accidental openeing of the compartments (bouncing open)

WOW! Is that a testament to the construction of the rig or an argument for roll up doors?

Have a big FDNY trip coming up for a friend, we are set to visit 25 or so FDNY firehouses... hopefully the people at Engine 81/Ladder 46 are friendly this time <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> and the people at Engine 94/Ladder 48 are as friendly as people have said!!

This is a LONG standing thing. I remember seeing some 1979 Macks with this latch idea - but done by the FDNY Shops or units in-house. It is now a standard thing due to the abuse the rigs take. NYC is like no others!
