Imagine being the pilot of that C-47 and reading the accounts later of what happened to the troops that landed in St Mere Eglise. We all know they had a job to do and under extremely hostile conditions, but they must have felt the same sense of "I'm responsible for these guys making their target safely" that we have of our crews on the fire ground.
