Another view of RT 41, the 1971 ALF 900 Series 100' TT
WW Jenkins photo, 7/93
The 1971 started its career at Newark, Del. Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder FC, note the differences in warning devices in this 7/72 slide. A cab roof was added before 1982, and the entire rig was refurbed in 1983 and was OOS for 3 months.

That LaFrance was one of two trucks the city purchased from Va. Leesburg if I remember. One was a 73 Seagrave that went to Truck 29 and the other was that ALF it was assigned to Reserve pool as RT 41 Its nick name was "Barney" it was sold to a collector in France.
Thanks. I remember now that they did get a couple used aerial trucks, but had forgotten where they came from. Getting old isn't fun! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Also. with the delivery of T27, all BCFD apparatus in front line service were white and orange. Within the year, with the delivery of the very next piece (I think it was Rescue 1) the department began the changover to it's current generic white over red scheme.

The 1973 Seagrave as T29 WW Jenkins photo, 7/93
I'm curious to know if the White over Red paint job and the scotchlite striping was first done by Leesburg, then copied by the Fairfax County units, or vice versa ??? Anyone know ??? I'm thinking perhaps Fairfax County units set the bar for others to follow.....
Remember, it's their Emergency, not yours ! Arrive Alive !
Here are some apparatus shots I got at last weekend's thrill show at the academy.
Reserve Engine 66 X E 5
Truck Co. 29. This is currently the oldest truck in the firstline fleet and I'm sure is expected to be the next one to be replaced.
Reserve Rescue 1. I know I got so many shots of this rig, but I never mind having so many... it's always been one of my favorites and is still pushing hard at 17 years now!
Old Floodlight 1. This is one of the old retired rigs from the Fire Museum of MD.

I wish when they switched the paint schemes, they would have adopted the one that's on Reserve Rescue 1, instead of the Traditional White over Red, that they have now. Or better yet, I wish they would have just stayed with the Orange & White.
