Does anyone know what type of lights are in the center of the cab? The ones under the windshield between the lafrance flashers. I'd love to get a set & replace the modern ones.

I enlarged the photo as much as I could, but this is still a WAG; could be Federal model Propello Ray or Solar Ray lights. However, it looks like there's an outline of a smaller bulb behind the lens, so I'm gonna go with Propello Rays. These spun around, vs. the Solar Rays that used a Par 46 bulb and oscillated up and down. The Par 36 bulb in the Propello Rays used a tank (as in U.S. military type) headlight, and i've got the bulb number around here somewhere. As far as either of the lights availability goes, good luck; a good place to start would be John Dorgan down in Arizona. Good luck with the new piece, it looks great! This is X-Engine 101A from the Wrightwood Station of the San Bernardino County Fire Department it is a 1973 Ward LaFrance 4X4 1500 gpm/500 gwt shop number 3472. It was removed from service in Wrightwood in 2006 when they received a new KME 4X4 Engine and bumped down the 1982 American LaFrance Century 4X4 unit to Engine 101A.

This is X-Engine 331 which became Engine 71 in the Central Valley Fire Protection District. it is a 1971 Ward LaFrance 1500 gpm/500 gwt currently used by the San Bernardino County Fire Department training center. The old Central Valley Fire Protection District was dissolved and the Fontana Fire Protection District was formed in 2009. Both of these districts were and are operated by the San Bernardino County Fire Department under contract.

English Consul Md
This is used by their explorers. I'm told it was from Texas, but I have no other information.

I believe this is from Middleton, MA. It was replaced around 02-03 and turned up on EBay a few years ago, I do believe it was privately owned at that time in either Texas or Louisiana.

Anyone have pics of this engine that are NOT copyrighted?

This was a REALLY fun pic to take <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' /> ;standing in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway on a weekday afternoon <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ' /> , but it was worth it. One of my favorite rigs. It's not a Mack, but it's a beautiful white rig. Patriot Hose Co.4 of Freeport NY had this 1972 1250/500 for many years. can anyone tell me what replaced it, and are they still white?
[/quote]
Not sure what replaced it butm yes i know the current rig is still white. that station also houses a Foam unit which is also white. If I remember correctly, Hose 4 had the white rig, Hose 2, had a twin Ward that was Blue.

The current rig is a Spartan/RD Murray, I want to say built in 1996 but I could be off a year or so on that. The blue Ward that Hose 2 ran was replaced by a 98 Spartan/RD Murray.

(Bottom photo of page 29 of this forum) In case this wasn't already mentioned, this rig originally served Upper Darby, PA until it was replaced in 1987.
