Everett/WA still has this antique. It is a 1938 Ahrens-Fox model ICU quad, that has a 750 gpm-pump and a 250 gwt. Bill Hattersley photo - Juergen Kiefer collection.

Seattle Fire has two hose wagons, this one and a similar unit located at station 34. They were funded by the Fire Facilities and Emergency Response Levy passed by Seattle voters several years ago. Extra lengths of large diameter hose were placed on every engine in the city so they'd be able to supply water over greater distances, should an earthquake disrupt the water supply.

Here's the front view of Hose 18. Hard suction was also provided on every engine, to draft water from lakes, reservoirs and Puget Sound, should the need arise. Also under the levy the city reservoirs and water supply tanks have been fitted with hardened hydrants.

I could be wrong, but I believe that the hose wagons have 300 gallon foam tanks and carry no water. The only time I've seen one in use was at a gigantic marina fire in 2002. They're the last KWs still in use by the SFD.

Seattle fire had six Kenworth engines equipped with 1500 pound Fire Boss dry chemical units, but all were retrofitted in the mid 1980's with open crew cabs, in place of the Fire Boss units, to get the firefighters off of the back step. I'm not sure if the Hose Wagons carry any foam presently, but I'll inquire.

Most of the engines that currently carry 600 feet, are getting bumped up to 800. Engine 32's new E\-One Quest carries 1000 feet of supply line.
