Recently, there has been an increase in members copying and pasting entire news stories from other websites, specifically news outlets. While there has not been any issue yet, I have visited some of the source websites, and reviewed their terms of use, and found that most prohibit their stories to be reposted on the web. As a result, I must ask that anyone wishing to reference a story on another website post a link, and immediately refrain from copying and pasting the article to Firepics.
Thank you.
Thanks for bringing that to my attention Ed,
Thanks!
Have a safe and happy new year

OK, no one wants to pay attention to this request, so it's now going to become part of the posting guidelines. Effective immediately, there will be no copying and pasting of any stories from other websites to Firepics.net. There will be a zero tolerance effort put forth by the board administration and moderators, so those who violate can expect to find themselves with an increased warning level and suspensions.

Just a reminder on this. It is part of the posting guidelines that no one may cut/paste anything from another website. This includes snippets of an article. I understand that people want to give an idea of what the link they are posting to the story contains, but the posting guideline is part of an out of court settlement. If people don't pay attention to it, and post what they think is allowable, they're opening me up for further litigation.
Here is the posting guideline:
Effective 7/21/07, No member is allowed to copy/paste articles from other websites to Firepics.net
I think this is pretty clear, yet people continue to do it.

Ed,
Does this mean:
If I write a story for my website, 1RBN, PCFN, and whatever else it can not be posted as same on here or does this mean that if another writer post a related article on a website and a firepics member uses said article to go with his/her pics?
Thanks for verifying Ed,
Ken

Also a question, if it's public domain information, such as from a government website, is that permissible?

Sorry to take so long to reply on these, way too much going on.
