So moving on now. What a great time at FDIC. 17 straight years for me and this was the best one ever. 10 hours of sleep in 4 days, no problem. It's so great to see all of the wonderful brothers and sisters that make this the greatest job in the world. Here are a few pics from the FOOLS Brotherhood Bash on Wednesday evening. The first one is of the Indianapolis Firefighters Emerald Society's converted school bus.
Good pics, Dave, and as usual a good time had by all at FDIC! This was my 14th year in a row attending and I wouldn't miss it for the world. For anyone reading this that has never attended FDIC, do yourself a favor and go next year. I believe it's the 3rd week in April 2012??? Somewhere around there. You won't regret going, I promise! The Indianapolis firefighters are second-to-none when it comes to hospitality.
OK, in St. Louis area fire apparatus news, the Webster Groves Fire Department has just taken delivery of a 1998 Pierce pumper, which will replace their reserve 1989 Seagrave pumper. I found out about it today from a WGFD firefighter. He said they just got it 3 days ago from a department in New York but doesn't know if it's an Arrow, Dash, or Lance. Preliminary plans call for running it as 2024 for a month so they can get used to running/operating it. It won't go in service for a few weeks yet, and as far as I know it's at WGFD Station # 1 as of now.
I appologize, but I do not have pictures of it and I have not seen it, but this is the information I've been given. If anyone gets to Webster Station 1, please take some pics of the new 2090 and post them on here. Thanks in advance!
Webster Groves is also specing out a new 75-foot quint to replace 2015, a 1999 Pierce Dash. It should be on order by the end of this year.
I saw a few pictures of Webster's new reserve pumper on Facebook, and it's a Dash. It still has its former department's graphics on it. It's solid red and will be a much nicer ride than the '89 Seagrave!
Here are few quick pictures I grabbed of the new Valley Park 1924, we were doing pump training. The truck officially went into service at 14:30 Wednesday 3/30/11. Ill still get better pics soon. Although I miss the 1994 Pierce Arrow (now in Peel, AR), the new truck is fun and easy to drive. It turns on a dime and has almost no power loss while going up steep grades. I was able to fit it in spots I wouldnt have thought about taking the old truck. With the amount of compartment space, we dont have enough equipment to fill it all, the truck looks naked!

The story I heard is that Pierce was preparing all of their show trucks for FDIC as we were taking delivery. Pierce asked if they could take the fronts off of the truck to use on a show truck. Some deal was worked out that Pierce would throw in "Thank you items" with our delivery as well as a replacement set of chrome covers. The covers havent come in, and im not sure what the items were that were added.
The new 2090 is a Saber. OK. I saw in the picture that it has a raised roof and figured it was a Dash, as I did not know you could get a raised roof Saber. Nice looking ride, though.

Not sure if you're familiar with the PUC, but a rear step folds down from underneath the short roll-up door. You can see the handle just below the bottom of the roll-up compartment.

I want to say the height is 10'9". Weight 53,800lbs.
We have Two 200' 1 3/4 preconnects and One 200' 2 1/2 preconnect. All triple flat loaded. The diamond plate tranverse compartment houses 2 backboards. The nice thing about the PUCs, the preconnects are on removable trays, the hose is loaded off the truck and the tray placed back in. I have more detailed compartments shots if anybody would like to see the setup.
