Here is a Spartan/RD Murray 105ft. AEI Aerial for the Fishers fire department out near Rochester, designated Q-350
Sparky Ilike the old WNY rigs your posting, keep them coming! In the meantime I thought I'd post this old one from WNY. Here is 1968 Young Crusader from the Doyle Hose Company No. 1. The truck is privately owned by a guy who has it stored near Wliiam and Bailey inside storage. It's a dam shame because I know at least one person in particular that would be extatic to have that truck in his garage. The truck has been out of service from my department since 1998.
Here's another Young Crusader, one of the last still in service. This is a 1968 Young Crusader from the Kenilworth fire company, Tonawanda, NY. Designated Engine 3 this truck is being replaced by next year. Kenilworth is keeping this truck and will use it as their parade truck.
Just counting ALF Century pumpers, I've shot nine that were top mounts. I'd say there were about 25-30 built, plus those on other chassis, such as the Pioneer and CTC. ALF also built them on commercial chassis.
Thanks Dave, when I was told the story about the C. Sq. and Tully ALFs. It was when the rigs were brand new. Maybe they were the first two built. Either way, the Highland rig is only the 3rd Top Mount Century, that I recall seeing. At 25-30 built, they are still a rare truck. Thanks for the info. tim/csff25
