The Reason you might show the Tri-State Pioneer as Hinsdale when the Arrow is shown as Darien is quite possibly because Headquarters is currently at Station 2. Where as when the Pioneer was purchased Headquarters might have been Station 1. Like I said before, Station 1 is in unincorporated Hinsdale and Station 2 is in Darien. Just a guess though. I do know that all of the Tri-state units pictured were original to the department. The 81 ALF was supposedly a San Fransisco Reject but I do not recall that completely.

Here's a few more for tonite. This is another rig that fought a lot of fire in it's career and it ran as a spare until the Darley rig's were delivered in 1997

This rig was destroyed in a rollover accident in 1984 or 85 at the corner of Mannheim Rd. and Canterbury Ave. as they were responding to a working house fire. Fortunately there were no majot injuries.

These next 2 rigs are unique pieces for the Chicago area. These 2 Maxim's were very few in the Midwest. Another little trivia piece about Westchester is in the mid '70's they went to a black over red color scheme when Dave Fornell (a name a lot of people in the business should know) was Chief from 1973 to about 1975 or '76. This engine got the wheels run off it in the '70's when it ran as the "Flying Squad" for the old Battalion 7 Mutual Aid Group which is now part of MABAS Division 20. the rig was manned daily from 0800-1800hrs with 6-7 firefighters, one from each department in the Battalion and they took in all reported structure fires and AFA's in the 7 towns.

This photo by now retired Hillside Firefighter Frank Schnurstein from about 1974 shows the old '64 Buick ambo and the new '73 Dodge/Wayne I believe, [osed on the front ramp of the station. Compare these rigs to whats running their currently. Quite a difference thru the years! Photo posted with the permission of Frank Schnurstein.
