I hit Station 301 and 302 today and I maxed out the memory card in my camera. I am going to download the picutres in a bit.
Some of what I learned:
The north boathouse is still there. The bid to demolish and reconstruct all came in overbudget. It has not been rebid yet.
On order is a third Arrow XT pumper which will become Engine 301B and be used at National for reserve. The EMS supervisors will be getting new rides this year. No new ARFF rig this year, however, there is a budget request for next year for two Strikers at Dulles and two at National. This is just a budget request at this time, won't know for a while what actually makes it for some time.

The Hazmat Unit and the MCU have been renumbered at Station 301
You will notice that the MCU is now lettered the Medical Care Support Unit

The Control Tower at Dulles
This wasn't a shot I had thought of but they suggested it and I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity. Thanks to the folks at Station 302 for as good a welcome as at 301.

The Oshkosh ARFF rigs at 302.
You will notice that Foam 345 has been moved to Dulles from National. They will be selling the oldest ARFF unit at Dulles and one of the ARFF units at Dulles will move into the reserve spot there.

National is a Index C airport while Dulles is a Index E airport. The FAA has requirements of how many units and what water, foam and dry chem must be carried and how many units must be able to make it to the midpoint of the furthest runway within so many minutes to remain certified at that index.
To meet Index E certification Dulles needs to be able to get three units to the midpoint of the furthest runway within that period of time....I forget what it is. To do so they have two Oshkosh ARFF units at Station 302 and 2 at Station 304. To allow the third unit to make it to the midpoint of any of the runways and meet certification they use Twin Agent Unit 302.
A clarification to my last post...the new reserve ARFF unit at Dulles is Foam 345. Station 304 runs the twin to Foam 326 and Foam 352 the other Striker at Dulles (without Snozzel).
