Alex, let me know if you are able to get any shots of QRV 59. I am curious to see some close up shots of the back and see if you can confirm that it has 500lbs of Purple K. I think the rig it replaces did carry Purple K. I really like ARFF rigs.

Nice to see some Hollywood shots!

Our "training" engine, still in service and can be used as a front-line piece (to the discontent of anyone who is stuck riding in it)

This is a "show" engine, not owned by Hollywood FD but a guy who lives in the city and asked to have the engine stored at Station 105 for awhile. Im pretty sure he found somewhere else to store it. I dont know anything else about this truck.

Wow..I never realized that any departments still owned any classic apparatus. That ALF is mint condition. I'll have to add it to the list next time I'm down.

Yeah it still works and pumps ok.

I was at our training center yesterday, but my camera has been in my bag for a few months and the battery was dead. Im charging it up now and i'll post the pics I have on there later.

When I get over to our station 74, i'll take a picture of the first pumper Hollywood ever bought.

And for those who may wonder why....



In South Florida, we call our Medic units "Rescues" because most departments do not have a dedicated Heavy Rescue team. All personnel who ride medic units in SoFla are trained firefighters. All medic units also carry SCBA and tools. Depending on the department, these medic units can also carry saws, hooks, etc. On a fire, the medic unit and its personnel typically are tasked with performing truck work. In my department, the first in Rescue will perform a search and secure utilities. Once these are done, we can assist the engines or begin to overhaul. This is why we don't call them Medics, but Rescues.
