And here is Smithfields new heavy rescue. It is not yet in service but should be by the end of the month.

A special thanks to Chief Jason Stallings, after several times trying to get together to shoot this, we finally managed to both be off and have the sun shining.

Great photos...thanks for sharing them.

But a couple of questions if I can...

Didn't Va Beach Engine 6 have a '06 Pierce Quantum? Where did their old rig go? And why the change to a larger booster tank rig?

Any idea what the price of the Seagrave rescue was? Very sharp.

Thanks in advance.

Eng-6's 06 Quantum will be going to Eng-5. Station 6 is in the south end of the city, very rural, no hydrants.

Smithfields Seagrave was in the area of $676,000.00

GREAT SHOTS PAL! Interesting that the VA Beach rigs feature roto-ray's that enter the chauffeurs plane of vision. Up here in Fairfax that has been used as a reason to ban them on all new county rigs. Something about it distracting the driver, causing him/her to involuntarily veer off the road and run over elderly women hobbling down the sidewalk... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

Yes it is sad. The last county rigs to feature them were the batch of 2005 Pierce Dash Engines. Volunteer rigs purchased since then that DO feature them are Rescue 401, Rescue 421 (I believe it be pre 2005 though), Engine 413 and the new Engine 421-Bravo.

Let's hope for a change in opinion...

Not sure. My understanding is they will receive Engine 430's recently replaced Dash. Engine 430's new Velocity IS now in service.

First off that is an awsome picture! With that being said the unit went in service as of 1800hrs tonight(7-12-2011) and took in its first run at 1830 for the MVA.The old unit is slated to go to Windsor VFD, company 40, thursday at some point. I will try to post compartment pics this week if i can.
