I remember Shark River Hills FC bringing a mid 70's Hahn to our 85th anniversary / NJ State Exempt Firemen's 101st convention / North Jersey VFA parade 24 years ago today on June 20, 1987. Wouldn't that be a coincidence if this was the pumper?

One slight correction Frank, after leaving Duncan the Dale City Hahn/LTI went to Abbeville County,SC not Drayton. It still serves in Abbeville County as far as I know.

Former Franklin, MA Engine 3 (Originally E-1)

1987 Hahn 1500/500

In the late 90s, the truck was refurbished following a crash. It was used by a quick-thinking firefighter to stop a run-away Town front end loader from hitting unsuspecting public works employees. It sustained damage to the right rear but returned to service after repair.

Unfortunately I don't. The firefighter had just finished fueling the vehicle and was driving around the back of the Highway Garage when he saw the loader, with no one driving it, rolling down-hill toward a group of Town workers. He quickly positioned the truck between the crew and the loader and the truck acted as a barrier. Very quick thinking! This really was an outstanding truck for many years. It served in Franklin from 1987 through 2007 when they acquired a new Pierce.
