I hope that most of us made it thru Hurricane Irene with little or no problems. The bitch kept me awake all of Saturday night and Sunday morning. First time I ever saw the Emergency Broadcast System activated to report possible tornados here in Jersey. Lots of noise.... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wacko' />

Trona - that would be "nowhere" in CA - out in the forsaken desert SW of Death Valley sort of between Barstow and Bakersfield..a mining company town that produced borax and potash...this chemical factory was (or still is!) probably the huge soda ash plant downtown...no confusing it with Palm Springs!

Currently the department is known as Searles Valley Chemicals and is still operating out of two stations one in downtown Trona at the processing plant, and the other 6 miles away at the mine site.
