I'm going to try and get some better shots of this truck when I work up there next. The old R-56 is for sale if anybody is looking for a nice ambulance.

That's exactly what it is.



Boykins, Va ran one during the fifties and sixties, and it was originally a U.S. Navy ambulance before being purchased by B.V.F.D, It had a roof mounted Federal 66L (Or similar siren)... painted rather than chrome... with red flashers both front and rear, and as I recall that was the only warning light on the rig.
Engine 1 to all units, we've got a glow in the sky!
