The much photographed Meriden Engine 3, a 2010 Seagrave 1250/500. The cab roof is painted silver to honor the cities legacy to the silver industry, with many factories producing fine silverware and other silver related items. Meriden has the nickname of "Silver City. The MFD is a combination department with 5 career stations and one Volunteer station. The working end of Meriden Engine 3. The three pre-connects on the left are connected from the rear of the hose bed. This truck is proof positive that Fire Departments can get a quality truck on a budget. Meriden Engine 104 is this 1981 Hahn 1500/500 pumper running in reserve. With New England weather as harsh as it is, the truck still looks good, except for the leaking booster tank. Meriden Tactical Unit 1, a 2008 Freightliner/Mickey. This truck is a second piece of Truck 1, and responds as needed to car accidents, haz-mat situations and technical rescues. Wallingford Rescue 7 runs this 1995 Pierce Dash rescue. The only white truck in town, this truck responds to all structure fires, and responds to busy Interstate 91, as well as town-wide for car accidents. Believe it or not, Cheshires 1970 Maxim/1987 Pierce 75' snorkel is still in service!!!! The open cab is a reminder of days gone by when local fire chiefs specified open cabs on ladder trucks so they could get good placement on the fireground. There are plans to replace this beauty, but a little thing called funding is keeping this truck in front-line service. Southington Engine 4 is the beautiful 1946 Diamond T/Maxim pumper. The pump panel on Southington's Engine 4. Simplicity at its finest. The water comes in, the water goes out....Simple!

the Hartford Sutphen pictured as Ladder 1 was re-assigned to Ladder 6 as the streets around headquarters were a tad tight for the Sutphen. it was replaced with a 100' Grumman stick single rear axle. that was the last piece that Ladder 1 had as they have since been disbanded. Hartford's five ladder companies have run all Sutphen's for quite a few years.
the word on the street at the Meriden show back in July is that the Hahn (104) would be being sold off anytime.
