Tower Ladder 2 in Hartford operated this 1996 Sutphen 100' tower with 1500 gpm/ 300 water. Sutphen # HS-3073. Mark A.Redman photo - Juergen Kiefer collection. Maybe someone can explain, what the reason was for the window-protection on several Hartford apparatus from this time ? Thank you. [/quote] Because of the inner-city-ghetto problems with rock throwing, cans, bricks, glass, etc. directed at the firefighters. Some of the engines also had plexi-glass shields over all the pump panel gauges to protect them as well.
Wethersfield's Truck 12 was replaced a couple of years ago by a 100ft Sutphen tower. Cromwell's Mack was sold to a dept in NY state and replaced with an E\-One Bronto Skylift
