Redwood City, CA had, according to the notes on the slide, this "Custom" Van Pelt/HiRanger 75' snorkel. Would love to hear the info one this one! Mattson Collection <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Usa' />

Chuck Madderom lists this as a 1962 "Custom 300" 6x4 75' Hi-Ranger snorkel powered by a Hall-Scott 6156FE 6-cylinder motor, Van Pelt serial #615552. I just noticed GA Dave beat me to it. Never mind.

Awesome photos Tascman. You keep coming up with great shots of very interesting apparatus. Thank you!

Very rare, only a few were made, Alexandria, Virginia also had one and was converted to a diesel engine due so so many problems with this new technology at the time. It put off a lot of heat!

I believe the pumper you are referring to was owned by the Mount Vernon Volunteer Fire Company of Fairfax County, Virginia. I am not aware of the City of Alexandria ever owning any Turbo-Chief apparatus.
